The Write Way

Paula Porter has a MA in Creative Writing from Iowa State University. One of her recent essays was included in 9/11 8:48 a.m., Documenting America's Greatest Tragedy (page 251- "Old Glory, New Pride.") In addition, she has published several poems in books such as Lyrical Iowa, Voices of the Grieving Heart, and others.

She has been a journalist and technical writer for more than 20 years and has been working as an editor for Design News magazine. She has also been published in many other magazines and newspapers including the Council Bluffs Nonpareil, The Metrowest News, Appaloosa Sport Horse, Iowa Woman, Playgirl, among others.

Her technical writing has garnered numerous awards from the Society of Technical Communication, the International Association of Business Communicators, the American Society of Association Executives, and the National Assocation of Conservation Districts.

An educational program and trail system she designed for the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District's Outdoor Educational Program, won first place in 1992 in the National Education Award from the National Association of Conservation Districts.

She has designed annual reports, conference materials, brochures on a variety of topics, and more.
